The brown heavy-duty canvas tarp offers strength and durability from a water-resistant material. The 16-by-24 canvas heavy-duty tarp is made form 100 percent single-filled military cotton duct fabric. Only a woven cotton fabric more than 8 ounces per square yard could accurately be called canvas. This tarp features a fabric of more than 10 ounces per square yard. It also features grommets that are spaced every two feet, double-stitched hems and seams and triple-thick hems. It is strong and breathable. The material also is resistant to mildew and reduces condensation and wind.
The canvass tarps are not recommended for use to cover a car or boat. The colored dye of the fabric and waterproofing could stain a painted surface. They also should not be used to cover a camper during transport. We also do not recommend that canvas tarps be utilized in situations that result in excessive pulling on the grommets. Our canvas tarps are water-resistant, but not waterproof. The material has a saturation point and eventually will leak with uninterrupted contact with water. The heavy-duty canvas tarps are treated with a petroleum-based material to repel water and can give of an odor. As a result, they should not be used indoors. Eventually, the odor will lessen as the fabric is used outdoors.
Made from cotton fabric, shrinkage is likely. The amount will vary from various environments and conditions, including sun, rain, snow and humidity. Visit Canopies and Tarps for online ordering information. We offer discounts when purchasing in bulk.
